Late Miocene Fossil Leaves From Verdi, Nevada

Three fossil leaves from the upper Miocene Hunter Creek Sandstone near Verdi, Washoe County, Nevada. For size perspective, specimen at upper left is 60mm long--it is a quaking aspen, called scientifically Populus pliotremuloides; the other two belong to a Black cottonwood referred to Populus alexanderi.
